Support services for business and investors
A single entry point for service
Providing access to council departments and key federal and state government bodies to pursue necessary approvals, introductions and access to networks with industry groups and professionals, potential suppliers, supply chain contacts and education and training providers.

Dedicated business facilitation services
Industry Investment Facilitator's work one-on-one with clients to help bring their investment to market sooner and more efficiently.
Investors are also supported by a team which helps communication between stakeholders, obtains timely responses from council and other government departments, and provides ongoing support once a business is established in the region.
Financial incentives may also be available for certain employment creation projects under the Sunshine Coast Investment Incentive Scheme. Incentives may include cash payments, deferral of rates, and/or deferral of infrastructure charges to help offset various establishment costs. Applications for such incentives are considered on a case-by-case basis.
Lower development fees and charges
Council offers highly competitive development costs. Lower fees and charges apply for code assessable developments, such as detached houses, multi-dwelling units, hotels, restaurants, medical centers, retail shops and others.
Council's code assessable development fees and charges (i.e development applications that are not subject to public notification or third party appeals) are generally below other comparable South East Queensland regions.

A range of free and paid development advice services are available for specific development proposals to help clients:
- identify relevant referral agencies, legislative and planning scheme requirements.
- understand assessment processes and clarify timeframes.
- meet assessment officers before submitting an application.
Faster assessment for low risk applications
A rebate of 25% of the fees paid when a development application is lodged can be sought if the work starts within two years from the date of approval and is one of the following uses under the region's planning scheme:
- Rural - agriculture, environment facility, roadside stall, winery.
- Tourism - nature based, short-term accommodation (5-star or better facility), art and craft centre shop in a rural zone, tourist attraction in a rural zone.
- Health care services - residential care facility (high care).

Planning and property information
All development applications for the Sunshine Coast Council area can be accessed through Development.i (developmenti.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au) which provides easy access to past and current applications details and basic property information. In addition, the system allows you to navigate, visualise, track and receive alerts about development applications.
A free Development.i site report provides access to town planning and property information to assist in analysing investment options and making development decisions.
