The Sunshine Coast is a natural sporting amphitheatre making it an unrivalled training environment.
Australia’s largest gym franchise Jetts Fitness is a Sunshine Coast born and bred business.
Australia’s premier cycling development program – the Australian Cycling Academy and the associated Pro Racing Sunshine Coast elite team – also operates from the Sunshine Coast.
The University of the Sunshine Coast is the only University in Australia to be accredited by the Australian Institute of Sport. The university has training facilities for 59 different sports.

Olympic and Paralympic Games
Road to glory
The Sunshine Coast will play an integral role as a major delivery partner in the staging of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, showcasing the region to a global audience.
It will be home to four key venues and several sporting events during the Olympic Games, including football, basketball, marathon, mountain biking, cycling and kiteboarding.
The Sunshine Coast will also host multiple days of road-based events (marathon and road cycling) during the Paralympic Games.
The four proposed venues include:
- Kawana Sports Precinct including Sunshine Coast Stadium (football preliminaries), and the proposed Sunshine Coast Indoor Sports Centre (basketball preliminaries).
- Alexandra Headland which will be the staging area for road-based events (Olympic cycling, marathon and race walks, plus Paralympic cycling and marathon). It will also host the kiteboarding competition (sailing).
- Sunshine Coast Mountain Bike Centre at Parklands (Olympic mountain bike competition).
- Sunshine Coast Olympic Village will be located in the heart of the new Maroochydore city centre, with investigations also underway into a possible indoor sports centre location.
