- It takes a village – Vitality Village brings together health and wellbeing innovators
Partners are being sought for a $24 million Australian-first health and innovation hub underway on the Sunshine Coast.
Vitality Village is an integrated community health space located in a 17 hectare health, medical and mixed use precinct adjacent to the new $1.8 billion Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
The highly anticipated five storey space will integrate services, research, education and innovation in community health and wellbeing.
Billed as “a dynamic Sunshine Coast community for leaders and innovators”, Vitality Village is promoting an interdisciplinary approach to community health and wellness, to create a vibrant, innovative collective of service providers.
In the heart of the health precinct
Vitality Village will have 4700m2 in floor area including designated office spaces, drop-in services, open space for presentations and events, community gardens and a café.
The development, being built by McNab constructions, is approved for office and medical uses and is strategically positioned in the heart of the Sunshine Coast Health Precinct at Birtinya.
It will apply a collaborative approach to tackling some of the nation’s major health challenges including isolation, loneliness and mental health by employing a unique “Innovation Engine” concept.
The Innovation Engine inspires and equips tenants, partners, entrepreneurs, researchers and creatives to collaborate on ground-breaking products and services that enhance Australia’s reputation as a leader in health and wellness development. Innovators will be actively supported to contribute skills and knowledge to solve global problems locally.
Leading health and innovation experts are flocking to the hub, with 70% of space already snapped up.
Location features:
- Opposite Sunshine Coast University Hospital
- 20 minutes to Sunshine Coast Airport
- 20 minutes to Maroochydore
- 1 hour and 15 minutes to Brisbane CBD
- Located on the Sunshine Coast, the home of the fastest international connection point from the east coast of Australia to Asia, via the Sunshine Coast International Broadband Network.

Allied health services doing more together
The Vitality Village concept is being led by Be (formerly Comlink), leading Queensland provider of health and wellbeing, home care, allied health, personal care, community care and transport services. Be provided significant seed funding for the project fuelled by their vision of a place where health and care work better together
Character Care, a vibrant consultancy offering counselling, psychology, therapy services and personal development to schools and young people will be a tenant of Vitality Village when it opens in June 2021.
Director Damon Joseph told Sunshine Coast News that it was great to be able to join the project from its inception.
“Character Care is excited about quality outreach into the community. Vitality Village affords a collaborative network of allied health and industry professionals to encompass the best possible offering for our clients,” Mr Joseph said.
“Together we can do more. Character Care understands that the Village presents greater opportunities for quality allied health offerings to the community when we come together.”
