An unbeatable business location

Resilient, growing economy

One of the largest regional economies in Australia, the Sunshine Coast has outperformed almost every other regional centre over the past 15 years. The region’s booming economy experienced 8.1% growth for the financial year ending June 2022 amid a wave of new residential, office and retail development.

One in seven Australians live in South East Queensland, one of the fastest growing populations in the nation. A robust Regional Economic Development Strategy (REDS) provides a 20 year vision and blueprint for sustainable economic growth. We’re ready to go and there’s room to grow!

Future-proofing business

Sunshine Coast Council is future-proofing business by investing in technology, infrastructure and ongoing innovation. More than $19.5 billion in infrastructure investment is underway and the Sunshine Coast’s Enterprise Corridor is providing a focal point for commercial, high-value industries, retail and residential growth.

Seven high-value industries facilitate new investment opportunities: food and agribusiness, clean-tech, health and wellbeing, aviation and aerospace, education and research, knowledge industries and professional services and tourism, sport and leisure.

Supportive business community

The Sunshine Coast has a tight-knit network of entrepreneurs, innovators and thought-leaders. Join a dynamic business community where connections are nurtured and collaboration flourishes.

Our collective spirit of innovation drives new connections, seeds revolutionary ideas and fosters successful collaborations. Business and industry are encouraged and supported to embrace new technologies, expand their markets and compete nationally and globally.

New greenfield CBD

At the heart of the Sunshine Coast is the 53-hectare greenfield Maroochydore City Centre development, with 20 hectares of parklands, waterways and open spaces. The city centre will include prime office, residential and retail spaces and a state-of-the-art convention and exhibition facility.

Seamlessly integrated technologies in the new CBD redefine efficiency and connectivity. From the international broadband network to the NEXTDC SC1 Tier 3N+1 Edge Data Centre, Lorawan IOT network, 5G mobile broadband and digital kiosks, the CBD’s smart city technology empowers businesses to leverage technology as a catalyst for innovation.

Recognised lifestyle location

The Sunshine Coast is a nationally recognised lifestyle location with a stunning natural environment, family-friendly beaches and a vibrant hinterland. It has a rich and diverse creative environment, world-class healthcare, some of Queensland’s best schools and is the major events capital of regional Australia.

Boasting 300 days of sunshine a year, 52 kms of beautiful beaches, freshwater rivers and lakes and 39,835 hectares of subtropical forests and national parks, the Sunshine Coast is the perfect location to achieve work-life balance.
