Construction Tech ideation

The construction industry stands at the threshold of transformation. As demand grows and expectations rise, so too does the opportunity to reimagine how we build—faster, smarter and more efficiently than ever before.

On the Sunshine Coast, this future is already taking shape. With significant investment in advanced infrastructure—spanning regional data centres, high-speed fibre connectivity and integrated digital networks—the foundations are in place to unlock a new era of construction performance. Drawing on proven innovations from other industries, technology can now be applied at scale to streamline delivery, reduce costs and accelerate construction projects from concept to completion.

Through the Hard Hats, High Tech in Paradise initiative, the region is bringing together industry, innovators and government to bridge the gap between potential and practice. By creating pathways to test, refine and scale new solutions, the Sunshine Coast is turning collaboration into capability.

This is a region with the assets to lead – combining strong construction activity, a connected digital backbone and a culture of innovation. More importantly, it has the ambition to help shape the future of one of the nation’s most important industries.

Together, we are building more than infrastructure – we are building a smarter, more productive and more resilient construction industry for the future. Be part of that future today.

Intelligent construction ecosystem

Sunshine Coast Council delivered Hard Hats, High Tech in Paradise on 29 May 2026 – a Construction Tech Ideation Session that brought together industry leaders, technology innovators and key stakeholders to explore new opportunities and drive productivity across the construction sector.

Building on the success of previous Council-led ideation initiatives — including the Geospatial Intelligence Ideation Session, which helped spark programs such as the UniSC Space to Sea Accelerator Program — the session demonstrated how Council’s Tech in Paradise initiative continues to turn innovation into action.

The event highlighted the growing role of emerging technologies in solving construction industry challenges, accelerating adoption and supporting smarter, more efficient ways of building.

Participants contributed to an ideation session to help shape a Sunshine Coast-led intelligent construction ecosystem focused on improving productivity, reducing cost and risk, and positioning the region at the forefront of construction innovation in Australia.

Sunshine Coast Council is keen to understand where different organisations see value in contributing to the development of a regional Construction Tech ecosystem and to identify how industry, technology, research and government stakeholders can support its growth and implementation.

Construction Tech Ideation Session

The first Construction Tech Ideation Session was a great success. Key note speakers included Georgina North, Head of Robotics, Automation and Data at McNab and Jacob Lee, Founder & Director of AECT Solutions.
