The Sunshine Coast region covers a large geographical area with varied landscapes. Choose to live in one of the dozens of suburbs along 52 kilometres of coastline, in a village high above sea level in the hinterland or anywhere in between.

The Sunshine Coast has a number of central business districts which provide a focal point for surrounding suburbs.

They are Caloundra, Kawana, Maroochydore, Buderim, Coolum Beach and Nambour.

Several major residential precincts have been under development for many years and are continuing to grow.

Major residential precincts

Aura

Aura is the largest residential development project in Australia at this time and will provide approximately 20,000 dwellings for around 50,000 people. Mixed-use activity centres will provide a focus for the community and offer convenient access to retail, services, well-designed civic spaces, community and cultural facilities, as well as local employment opportunities.

Palmview

Palmview is situated in close proximity to the University of the Sunshine Coast, with easy access to the Bruce Highway and just 12km from Mooloolaba.

When it’s completed Palmview will support about 16,000 people in 7000 houses.

The project is expected to be complete around 2036 and will include a town centre, traditional main street layout, a three hectare park, civic plazas, a transit station, community facilities, a Local Employment Area Precinct and two schools.

Beerwah East

Beerwah has been identified as a long-term growth area for the Sunshine Coast given its location and proximity to major road and rail transport infrastructure.

It is forecast to house about 50,000 residents in 7000 homes by 2041.

Maroochydore City Centre

Maroochydore City Centre is Australia’s newest greenfield CBD and aims to be Australia’s first truly smart city, just 15 minutes from the Sunshine Coast Airport and 20 milliseconds from Asia via the international broadband submarine cable.

Master-planned from the ground up, the new CBD will offer capital city infrastructure and has been designed for the Sunshine Coast lifestyle, with almost 18 hectares of parklands and waterways. The multi-billion-dollar greenfield CBD will feature a mix of commercial, retail, residential and dining precincts and will be the Sunshine Coast olympic village location for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
