Australia’s most awarded modular builder, Sunshine Coast-based Saltair Modular, is boldly redefining construction and new home design.

Saltair Modular manufactures modular homes and buildings, then transports and installs them on-site across the country. The modular method offers faster build times and endless opportunities for customisation.

The Coolum Industrial Estate-based construction firm specialises in residential homes, tiny homes, tourism facilities and recreational camps.

Their unique modular systems have picked up a string of awards, including the coveted Housing Industry Association’s Innovation in Housing Award for both the Sunshine Coast and Queensland for five consecutive years.

Saltair Modular is one of a growing number of innovative businesses and high growth companies choosing to call the Sunshine Coast home. The region is a leading choice for business investment with a competitive business environment, accessibility to markets and new infrastructure.

Redefining housing innovation

Technology-led affordable housing solutions

At a time when housing innovation and affordable housing are consistently making news, Saltair Modular offers a real alternative to traditional construction methods.

Soaring demand has fuelled business growth and Saltair Modular has opened a new 10,500m2 facility last year, enabling the construction of 500 more modules annually.

Managing Director Steve Bridger said a systemised end-to-end process meant Saltair Modular could offer fixed-price contracts and homes delivered to site in less than 12 weeks.

“One of our key challenges is to make housing more affordable in Australia. We’re always devising innovative approaches and looking domestically or overseas for new technologies, all in the name of lean manufacturing.”

“We see lean manufacturing as the way of the future. We believe we have only just scratched the surface in terms of the potential of modular building,” Mr Bridger said.

Modular homes also offer a viable solution for location challenges, time restraints, limited trade availability or unforgiving site terrain.

Local supply network improves efficiency

Drawing on a vast network of Sunshine Coast suppliers has helped Saltair Modular maximise efficiency and build a reputation for quality and service.

“The Sunshine Coast, as well as being the best place to live, is well equipped with all the trades and services we need,” Mr Bridger said.

“Every step in our process has a strong local component. Our building starts with a base frame made by Steelmart and the roofing comes from Roll Tech Australia, both of which are around the corner in the Coolum Industrial Estate. We’re also close to Coolum Tiles and Queensland Flooring. We are so lucky to have such a strong network of suppliers.”

Saltair Modular homes combine outstanding quality and functionality without compromising style, comfort or the environment.

All Saltair Modular buildings boast eco-friendly credentials including the use of sustainable timber and building materials plus a minimum 6 Star Energy Rating.

Minimal on-site construction also reduces site waste and the impact on the environment.

“We believe modular building is the future of housing. And it’s being at the forefront of this innovation that continues to inspire us to improve our designs and process,” explains Mr Bridger. “We’re always reviewing our designs with sustainability in mind, including the materials we use, our designs and and our building process.”

Supportive and collaborative business community

The Sunshine Coast’s natural beauty provides inspiration for Saltair Modular home designs.

The region’s supportive and collaborative business community has also been an important factor in business growth.

“I have worked in a few big cities and I find the atmosphere between businesses on the Sunshine Coast is a lot more win-win. There’s a lot of camaraderie. Everyone realises that business is based on relationships and networking and the Sunshine Coast is an ideal platform for that,” said Mr Bridger.
