A Sunshine Coast health technology company has gone global, taking immersive virtual reality (VR) training to India’s rapidly growing healthcare sector.

Founded by local nurse and entrepreneur Bradley Chesham, Bundle of Rays develops immersive training tools that support clinical learning for nurses and health students.

Bundle of Rays has secured a major export agreement with Jaypee Brothers Medical Publishers Pvt. Ltd., one of India’s leading healthcare education providers.

The partnership marks the largest immersive learning program ever deployed in a single Indian state and forms part of a five-year national strategy to transform nursing education across the country.

Supported by Queensland Premier David Crisafulli MP and the Trade and Investment Queensland team, the deal is about much more than commercial success. This global leap forward for healthcare education is a proud milestone for the Sunshine Coast’s growing technology sector and reflects the region’s commitment to fostering world-leading innovation.

The program will be delivered across hospitals, colleges and universities involved in nursing and health education, supporting thousands of students and educators.

Revolutionising how nurses learn

India faces a major challenge in delivering consistent, hands-on clinical training to millions of nursing students spread across the vast country. The scale is enormous, with demand for high-quality clinical education increasing every year.

That’s where Bundle of Rays steps in.

Developed by nurses, for nurses, Bundle of Rays has evolved far beyond traditional virtual and augmented reality. Its extended reality (XR) and AI-driven platform is transforming what we know about teaching and learning in healthcare.

The platform blends immersive environments with intelligent AI agents, enabling real-time, anywhere-anytime simulation, communication training and behaviour-based education.

Learners can step into contextual 3D environments, practise clinical decision-making, and engage in AI-powered roleplay that adapts to their responses – a major shift from passive e-learning modules and standard webinars.

Students can still practise core areas such as patient assessment, anatomy and physiology and emergency procedures, but now within a dynamic, interactive system that mirrors real-world complexity. These tools offer a safe, predictable and scalable way to learn, accessible anywhere an internet connection is available.

This next generation of immersive learning is redefining how nurses build confidence, competence and clinical judgment, bringing the future of healthcare education directly into the hands of learners.

Sunshine Coast innovation on the world stage

This export deal places Bundle of Rays at the forefront of global health education innovation and strengthens the Sunshine Coast’s reputation as a world-class hub for digital technology.

The region’s ultra-fast broadband network plays a crucial role, enabling real-time collaboration and training between educators and students across continents. This capability is reinforced by the multiple Sunshine Coast international submarine cable connections including to the Google network. This delivers diversified paths, low-latency and high-capacity digital infrastructure that supports seamless robust global delivery.

It’s also an outstanding example of how local innovation, supported by leading digital infrastructure, can reach global audiences.

Brad also commented the Sunshine Coast’s connectivity has been key to enabling global delivery for Bundle of Rays.

“The two submarine cables now linking the Sunshine Coast to high speed connectivity give us the digital backbone to deliver immersive education instantly, anywhere in the world,” he said. “It’s the kind of infrastructure that makes international innovation possible from right here on the Coast.”

“Our vision is to make clinical training accessible to every nurse, anywhere in the world. The Sunshine Coast gives us the digital backbone to connect with the world in real time.”

Global impact

For Bradely Chesham and the Bundle of Rays team, the partnership is so much more than an export achievement.

By blending technology and clinical experience, this Sunshine Coast business is helping shape a smarter future for healthcare professionals in Australia and worldwide.

Bundle of Rays is further expanding its international footprint, including a significant UK collaboration with RCNi – the education and publishing arm supporting the Royal College of Nursing. With a global presence reaching more than 700,000 nurses, this partnership reflects the growing international demand for modern, scalable clinical education.

“This partnership shows how innovation from our region can have a lasting impact on global healthcare,” Brad said. “But more than that, it shows what’s possible when nurses lead innovation – we understand the learning challenges and can design solutions that truly make a difference.”

When asked about the company’s broader vision, Brad summed it up simply: “Our ultimate goal is to close the gap between knowledge and practice giving every nurse, no matter where they live, the same opportunity to learn, grow and deliver safer care.”
