Following its 40th anniversary in 2023, Ozzi Kleen marks another significant milestone with this year’s Ozzi Kleen International Sales Conference. The multi-day conference was held across several Sunshine Coast locations including Mooloolaba and Woombye, and welcomed international Ozzi Kleen distributors for the first time. This event underscored their growing global presence and highlights how exports are shaping the future of this local, family-owned company.
Scott Veivers, Commercial Sales at Ozzi Kleen, said, “We are delighted to host our colleagues from the UAE, New Zealand, Fiji and Vanuatu on the beautiful Sunshine Coast. The sessions give us an opportunity to showcase our systems while supporting local businesses and products manufactured right here on the Sunshine Coast.”
Ozzi Kleen is a Sunshine Coast success story, employing over 80 local team members and remaining proudly family-owned. Their wastewater treatment systems, designed for both rural and urban use, set a new standard in sustainability and water recycling. These systems provide reliable sewage treatment and convert waste into nutrient-rich water for reuse – a vital resource for low-rainfall areas in Australia and worldwide.
Ozzi Kleen embarked on its export journey in the early 2000s, achieving international acclaim with the installation of wastewater treatment systems on the World Islands in the UAE. In 2019, the company landed a major contract to supply wastewater treatment plants to China as part of a $9 billion environmental initiative. Originally developed to meet the needs of rural areas lacking proper sewage infrastructure, these systems quickly garnered global interest.
Today, Ozzi Kleen’s innovative solutions are exported to countries such as the UAE, New Zealand, Fiji, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, and the Solomon Islands, with plans to further expand into new markets. Their solid reputation for quality and dedication to sustainability continues to fuel their growth in international markets, establishing them as a leader in the wastewater treatment industry.
Exporting wastewater treatment systems isn’t just about selling a product; it’s about building relationships and educating communities. “Ozzi Kleen invests significant time in working with ministers, local governments and even village leaders to explain the value of proper wastewater treatment.” Scott Veivers shared.
“In many of the regions they serve, raw sewage is still a common issue, with untreated waste at risk of contaminating water sources. Ozzi Kleen’s systems are helping to change that by providing a cleaner, more sustainable solution.”
Their approach is hands-on—distributors in other countries are trained to operate and maintain the systems and Ozzi Kleen’s Australian team travels internationally to offer ongoing support.
Being based on the Sunshine Coast has played a pivotal role in Ozzi Kleen’s export success. The region’s strong support for local businesses, combined with its proximity to major transport hubs, makes it an ideal location for international growth. While they continue to expand their global footprint, Ozzi Kleen remains deeply rooted in the Sunshine Coast community, supporting local sports teams and employing local staff. Their story exemplifies how a small, family-owned business can thrive globally with innovation, community support, and an international vision.
As a UNESCO Biosphere, the Sunshine Coast has a reputation for innovation and sustainability that makes it a perfect match with the values intrinsic to Ozzi Kleen systems that have sustainability at their core.
Up to 85% of the materials used in the Ozzi Kleen tanks are recycled. Unlike traditional concrete wastewater tanks that are abandoned underground, Ozzi Kleen tanks can be removed, cleaned, and recycled—making them a “forever product.”
As part of the Sunshine Coast circular economy Ozzi Kleen also accepts discarded plastics, such as kayaks, to repurpose into plastic tanks and other products.
Less energy is required to power their unique cycling system than a traditional blower system that uses continuous power. In fact, some Ozzi Kleen systems run exclusively off solar power.
Looking ahead, Ozzi Kleen is set to take their export business to new heights. They are exploring opportunities in Dubai, where their systems will be used in homes on the World Island development.
From individual use to municipal setups that serve up to 8,000 people, there’s no limit to what a Sunshine Coast business can achieve on the global stage.
In a world where clean water is becoming an increasingly precious resource, Ozzi Kleen is leading the way in providing sustainable, efficient wastewater treatment solutions to Australia and beyond.
