Beerwah to Maroochydore Rail
Council is planning for the future so the lifestyle and stunning environment we all enjoy can be maintained as we grow.
Between 2016 and 2041 it is projected that the Sunshine Coast population will increase by around 200,000 people and we will need more sustainable transport options. This new infrastructure will enable us to efficiently connect people to jobs, recreation, tourism, services and education.
Based on experience, much of the growth is expected to occur in the coastal corridor between Maroochydore and Caloundra.
The mass transit plan includes a new regional heavy rail connection linking Beerwah to Caloundra, Kawana and Maroochydore along the CAMCOS corridor, suitable for longer distances between stops. Critical public transport connection for the urban coastal corridor to Brisbane
