The Sunshine Coast Airport’s international runway has elevated the facility to a world-class, fully-serviced aviation precinct.
The expanded airport provides a direct gateway to the region and to a greater range of locations in Australia, Asia and other international destinations.
It is now the HQ for Bonza, Australia’s newest airline and only independent low-cost carrier.
Bonza’s route map includes 22 routes to 16 destinations.
Further development, to be delivered under the Airport Masterplan, will provide exciting and diverse opportunities in the Australasian aviation market.
The expanding precinct will provide prime airside and landside development opportunities for smart and innovative businesses.

Simple, efficient approval processes for investors
Sunshine Coast Council’s planning scheme ensures a simple, efficient development approval process for aviation and aerospace ventures at Sunshine Coast Airport. Aviation and aerospace developments do not require public notification and there are no third party appeal provisions, allowing the assessment of proposed developments to occur within 90 days. Development controls are implemented with the end user in mind, providing a high degree of flexibility for prospective investors.
Aerospace Precinct
The Aerospace Precinct provides prime airside and landside development opportunities for smart and innovative aviation-related businesses. Over 35,000 square metres of airside and landside sites are available, with flexibility in block size.
Designed to meet the needs of progressive and globally focused aviation companies, the precinct offers:
- Airside sites totalling 22,000 square metres of hangar space
- Landside sites totalling 13,500 square metres
- World-class, fully-serviced aviation facilities with Code C apron
- Flexible block sizes dependent on the needs of the business
The Turbine Precinct
The Turbine Precinct will be Australia’s first purpose built, end-to-end food and beverage manufacturing and education precinct.
The Sunshine Coast has a burgeoning food, beverage and agribusiness industry. Turbine is a response the industry’s desire to scale and innovate, access world-class services and advanced manufacturing infrastructure, reduce costs, increase speed to market and increase global competitiveness.
To be located at the Sunshine Coast Airport, Turbine will give local producers access to new national and international export markets.
Stage 1 will have a beverage focus and include a largescale contract beverage facility; co-located beverage manufacturers; collaborative R&D centre, expertise and training hub and hospitality showcase. Turbine is expected to be operational late 2023.
Food and Agribusiness Network
Funding and development of the Turbine Precinct was initiated by the Food and Agribusiness Network (FAN) along with a range of industry and government partners. Over the past six years FAN has created a unique, collaborative ecosystem to support the growth of the food and agribusiness industry in the Greater Sunshine Coast region.
Turbine will take this to the next level, providing world-class services, advanced manufacturing capability and education and training to turbocharge industry growth.
Turbine is set to create a blueprint for the future of Australian food and beverage manufacturing, where industry, research, government and education and training providers collectively unlock growth and drive innovation.
