Council is planning a streetscape upgrade to Cribb St, Landsborough.
Project scope
The local community’s ideas and aspirations for Cribb Street Landsborough are set to become a reality with construction soon to commence on the $3.3million Cribb Street Streetscape Upgrade.
The project forms stage one of the multi-stage Landsborough Placemaking Master Plan which was designed over the past two years in collaboration with the community. The master plan was endorsed by council in January 2020.
Community feedback has guided the streetscape’s design with the top three priorities identified as:
- creating a cooler, leafier and shadier street
- improving pedestrian access
- creating more outdoor dining and street activation.
Project update
Stage 1 plan[1458KB] is available to view. Works will include:
- footpath widening and new pavement areas -existing paved footpath edging will be renewed, with most existing pavers retained
- additional landscaping, including new street trees and furniture at key areas
- raised pedestrian crossings with new lighting
- parking reconfiguration - parking bays will be changed from parallel to 90-degree parking on the park side of Cribb Street
- interpretive signage and public artwork
- overhead power cable bundling
Where to from here
Following a public tender process, council will soon appoint a construction contractor for the project. Preliminary works will start in late-March, including survey and underground service investigations. Major construction will follow shortly afterwards in mid-April with project completion expected by late October 2020 (weather and site conditions permitting).
Details of the construction schedule will be shared with the community in advance. To minimise inconvenience, works will be split into individual zones with the first zone located opposite Buck’s Bakery, on the railway side of Cribb Street.
