With record high building approvals, consistently high levels of business confidence since 2014, an outlook of continued growth over the next six months and with one of the strongest performing regional economies in Queensland, the Sunshine Coast is a great place to do business.

This is supported by more than $10 billion in public and private projects being delivered or in the pipeline across the region, including the $374 million Sunshine Coast Airport expansion, Australia’s only greenfield CBD project in Maroochydore, the new Sunshine Coast University Hospital which opened earlier this year and the $7 billion Aura and $3 billion Palmview property development projects  underway.

Businesses outside of the region have been invited to find out more about the opportunities available just one hour north of Brisbane with the Come North and Prosper free information session to be held at Kedron-Wavell Services Club on Thursday, July 27 from 4.30pm to 6.30pm.

Langs Building Supplies general manager David Wuiske has already seen the benefits of investing in the Sunshine Coast and will be on hand during the information sessions to share his experiences.

“We recently invested $20 million in a new purpose-built facility at Caloundra to expand our business and take advantage of the growth opportunities available in this region,” Mr Wuiske said.

“The Sunshine Coast is ready to take off.

“There’s a lot of building activity and major development occurring in the region and we could see the opportunities from investing in this region and what this could achieve for our business.

“For us, Aura, Palmview and Maroochydore CBD were the key projects that directly provided opportunities for our business, but generally the region is growing stronger with a supportive and proactive council and high business confidence.

“Having a very supportive council is a huge benefit for businesses and something that made the move to the region smoother and we believe this move will see significant benefits for our business into the future.

“I would strongly encourage other business owners to consider this region for their business expansion plans.”

Economic Development and Innovation Portfolio Cr Steve Robinson said the significant regional infrastructure projects that are underway and high business confidence are also supported by a strong regional economy and the Regional Economic Development Strategy.

“Our region’s economy is one of the largest regional economies in Australia, independently ranked as the second highest performing regional economy in Queensland, and it is predicted to continue to grow in a strong and sustainable pattern over the next 20 years to reach $33 billion in 2033,” Cr Robinson said.

“This alone offers significant value to our existing local businesses and those looking to expand their operations.

“Our Regional Economic Development Strategy will also support the predicted growth of the economy over the next 20 years to ensure it remains responsive to market demand and will deliver greater opportunities for the region and our community.

“Along with a strong economic environment and a planned future strategy, the region also offers businesses available industrial and commercial land, industrial land costs that are on average 50% lower than in Brisbane, competitive workforce costs, an idyllic lifestyle and environment and strong road and rail connections to major capital cities.

“I would really encourage any business who are currently looking at locations to base their operations or to expand their operations to attend the Come North and Prosper information session and find out why the Sunshine Coast is great for business.”

The Come North and Prosper information session will be held on Thursday, July 27 from 4.30pm to 6.30pm with information provided by the Sunshine Coast Council’s Investment Attraction team and key speaker David Wuiske from Langs Building Supplies. An opportunity for networking will also be provided.
